The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District is among the top public school systems in the nation according to the Niche 2019 Best School District rankings that were released on Wednesday. The district ranked number 94 in the nation and was one of eight Long Island school districts who ranked in the top 100.
“Inclusion on the Niche rankings is a great honor for the district,” said Superintendent of Schools John DeTommaso. “While this ranking is certainly commendable, greatness happens every day within our schools. This is due to the commitment of our incredible staff, inspiring students, supportive parents and dedicated Board of Education.”
Niche rankings are based on data obtained from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores and ratings collected from Niche users, according to the Niche website. Influencing factors for a district’s rankings includes academics, teacher satisfaction, culture and diversity, parent and student experiences, overall safety, resource availability and the variety of extracurricular activities and offerings. This is the fifth year Niche has released rankings.
