The LIIFE Awards night – at least for a little while – belonged to veteran character actor Danny Aiello, who was presented with the LIIFETime Achievement Award. He has appeared in “Moonstruck,” “City Hall,” “Do The Right Thing,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” “Fort Apache The Bronx,” “The Prince of Central Park” and many other well-known movies.
Dressed casually for the summer festival wearing a backwards tan baseball cap, he spoke of being impressed with the talent at the festival, and of the layout and vibrancy of Bellmore. After accepting his award, and receiving hugs and kisses from several in the crowd, Aiello was asked by Your NewsMag about the significance of the New York school of actors including Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel, Robert DiNiro, Joey Pesci and director Martin Scorcese. “DeNiro only wishes he could act like me!“ was Aiello’s only response.
