The plan this year among the four Bellmore veterans groups sponsoring the parade – American Legion Post 1749, VFW Post 2770, American Legion Post 948 and the Vietnam War Veterans Association – is to begin Memorial Day services at the Bellmore Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Broadway at 9:30 a.m., followed by the parade beginning at 10 a.m.
The parade will march north up Bedford Avenue to Oak Street, turning east to Bellmore Avenue, turning left and marching north up to the North Bellmore War Veterans Memorial on the Newbridge Road School grounds. Once assembled at the North Bellmore war veterans memorial, a second service will be held.
Among community members participating or expected to participate in the parade are the Bellmore and North Bellmore fire departments, local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores’ members, school bands and other local groups.
