New Street Dedication in North Bellmore

Town of Hempstead officials joined with the family, friends and colleagues of a fallen New York City firefighter in unveiling “Lt. Steven Sorger Avenue” last month. Lt. Sorger died from an illness related to his service at Ground Zero following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center. The commemorative sign dedicating Waltoffer Avenue, a Hempstead town roadway, to the hero was placed at the corner of Waltoffer and Washington Avenues in North Bellmore.
