Nassau police arrested a Massapequa woman for grand larceny that occurred on Friday, September 23, at 8:30 a.m. in Merrick.
According to First Squad detectives, they, along with assistance from the DEA Tactical Diversion Squad, which is comprised of agents and officers from Drug Enforcement Administration, New York City Police Department., New York State Police, Westchester County Police and Town of Orangetown Police, conducted a joint investigation, which led to the arrest of Yessenia Alongi, 37, of Nearwater Avenue, at her place of employment in Merrick.
The investigation determined that between March 16, and July 7, Alongi had forged and cashed numerous checks causing her employer a loss in excess of $100,000. A subsequent investigation discovered Alongi had stolen a prescription pad from a doctor and filled dozens of fraudulent prescriptions, mainly opioids, at numerous pharmacies on Long Island.
The investigation is ongoing.
Alongi is charged with Grand Larceny, second degree and numerous counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, second degree.
