Anchor Down Restaurant at 1960 Bayberry Avenue in south Merrick will co-sponsor a block festival this Saturday starting at 1 p.m. on Bayberry Avenue. Because the Freeport/Hudson Anglers will hold its first annual fluke frenzy tournament at the Blue Water Yacht Club on the avenue, the block festival is expected to be teeming with revelers looking for food, drink and music – all day long! Music will be provided by the Calypso sounds of the Copy Cat Band.
Come one, come all!
Chef Stephen Rosenbluth told Your NewsMag a barbecue will be open outside the restaurant and cooking several summertime barbecue favorites, such hot dogs and hamburgers, chicken, popcorn shrimp, calamari and more. Lobster rolls will also be part of the abundant menu.
“There will be things for the kids, such as face painting and more,” Rosenbluth said. Music will be on hand from 5-9 p.m.
He noted that representatives from Moscow Mule Vodka will be in the restaurant to provide samples its product for those who imbibe discreetly.
Bayberry Avenue will be blocked off at Hewlett Avenue, so revelers are requested to access the festival from Little Whaleneck Road.
One resident nearby who requested anonymity said, “I hope the street blockades can work to keep the traffic controlled.”
