Bellmore Man Arrested for Grand Larceny

Nassau County police have arrested a Bellmore man in connection with a grand larceny that occurred in Merrick.

According to Crimes Against Property Squad detectives, defendant Zafar Furhad, 44, of Pettit Place, Bellmore, between April 1 and April 9, deposited three fraudulent checks into his account at the Capital One Bank, at 2129 Merrick Road, Merrick.  He then transferred the money into a second account and with a cashier’s check withdrew approximately $26,000 in US currency.  The checks were returned, causing the bank that monetary loss.

Furhad as was arrested at 5:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 21.

Defendant Zafar Furhad is charged with one count of Grand Larceny, and was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead.
