Nassau police have arrested two men in connection with robberies that took place in Merrick and North Bellmore over the last several days.
Adam Baron, 18, and Jaime Ramirez, 25, both of Melville, were apprehended after robberies occurred at a Chase Bank, 1542 Bellmore Avenue in North Bellmore on January 17, at 5:55 p.m., and at a Roslyn Savings Bank, 1542 Merrick Avenue in Merrick on January 23, at 4:22 p.m.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, Ramirez entered the Chase Bank in North Bellmore and waited to be called by a teller. After approaching the teller and presenting a demand note, Ramirez was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank southbound on Newbridge Road. He was said to be wearing jeans and a black scarf that was covering the lower part of his face.
Four customers and four employees present during the robbery were uninjured.
Six days later Baron, in dark clothing, walked into the Roslyn Savings Bank in Merrick and presented a demand note to a teller. The teller complied and Baron then fled on foot southbound through the parking lot with an undetermined amount of cash. There were six employees present at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.
Ramirez waited nearby.
Both Baron and Ramirez are charged with Robbery, Second Degree, in the Roslyn Savings Bank incident; and Ramirez is also charged with Robbery, Third Degree, in the Chase Bank incident.
