Nassau police arrested two men in Bellmore on Sunday, January 26, at 9:40 p.m. for weapons and drug possession.
According to detectives, Seventh Precinct police officers observed Kevin Deturris, 40, of West Babylon operating a 2005 Dodge northbound on Bellmore Avenue failing to stop at a stop sign and failure to signal a turn at Boundary Avenue. A vehicle and traffic law stop was conducted and officers observed a marijuana pipe in the cup holder of the center console. Both Deturris and his passenger, Anthony Trentacosta, 21, of Boundary Avenue in Bellmore, were removed from the vehicle and interviewed. Defendant Deturris claimed ownership of the marijuana pipe. Police then recovered a Glock .357 handgun from the center console and a nightstick from underneath the rear passenger seat. Both men were then taken into custody and the vehicle impounded.
Both defendants were charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. In addition, defendant Deturris was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and numerous violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
